Modernfood is a chips and snack food manufacturer in Dubai, producing oven-baked corn and potato snacks. The company was established in 1981 and still works to recipes it has used for decades.

Our chips are made from carefully sourced ingredients, giving a light, crunchy texture. Baking rather than frying uses considerably less oil.

We supply retail, wholesale and foodservice customers across Dubai and the wider UAE, and export to the GCC, the Middle East, Africa and Australia. Our manufacturing facility in Al Garhoud is certified to ISO 22000:2018 and HACCP by TÜV Middle East under EIAC accreditation.

From humble beginnings

Big on flavour, deep in tradition

  1. 1981

    The first baking line

    Modernfood opens in Dubai with a baking production line, and Papy Snacks is the first range to come off it.

  2. 1983

    A frying line joins it

    A frying line is installed alongside the ovens, widening what the plant is able to make.

  3. 1984

    Dubai Pofak and Chipstix

    Two more ranges arrive in a single year, taking the plant from one brand to three.

  4. 1989

    A second production line

    The plant expands, adding a second production line beside the first.

  5. 1993

    Flavouring technology

    Flavouring technology is brought in, so seasoning is developed and applied on site.

  6. 1999

    Automated packaging

    Packing moves onto an automated machine, taking the plant's slowest step off hand work.

  7. 2007

    A new popping machine

    A popping machine joins the line, adding a texture the existing processes could not give.

  8. 2023

    Dubai Pofak, revived

    Dubai Pofak returns with a new flavour and a redrawn pack.

  9. 2024

    Chipstix, revived

    Chipstix follows, reworked and repackaged for the same shelf.

  10. 2025

    Dubai Bites

    A fourth range joins the line-up.

  11. 2026

    More flavours, more items

    New flavours and new items are in development across the range.
